Foundational industrial band from Sydney, Australia. Formed in 1978 by Graeme Revell and Neil Hill, who met while working at Callan Park Hospital's psychiatric ward. The name SPK was a reference to the radical German Marxist group Sozialistisches Patientenkollektiv.

Founding member Graeme Revell would go on to become an accomplished Hollywood film score composer. Working on cult films such as Dead Calm, The Crow, From Dusk till Dawn, and The Craft.

In a 1987 interview with Italian fanzine Snowdonia, Edward Ka-Spel of The Legendary Pink Dots remarked:

...industrial music should have stopped completely after SPK made 'Leichenschrei' because that was the ultimate, it was a brilliant album that nobody could make a better, more definitive work in industrial music.
